Abstract: Personal correspondence among members of the Roberson family living in Orange County, Chatham County, Moore County, Raleigh, and other locations in central North Carolina. The letters primarily concern health and family matters. There are references to conditions during the Civil War. There are also bills of sale for slaves in Chatham and Orange counties; receipts and other items relating to the death of Allen Moore Roberson; and papers relating to Avis J. Roberson’s work as a captain in the North Carolina militia during the Civil War, including lists of men, apparently from Chatham County, who were eligible for military service.
