Abstract: Plantation owner and lawyer of York County, S.C. Scattered items of the Faris and Patton families of York County, S.C., 1829-1875, and of Thomas Whiteside of York County, 1866-1871. The Faris and Patton items include letters in the 1850s to John A. Faris from relatives describing life in Mississippi County, Mo., and items relating to farm and household supplies in the 1870s. The Whiteside items include receipts for supplies purchased and a sharecropping contract with a freedman, 1869.
