The report discusses the capture of the Confederate steamer Calypso off the North Carolina coast. The ship was sailing from Nassau, Bahamas, to Wilmington, North Carolina, attempting to evade the blockade with a cargo of “liquors, medicines, drugs, and provisions,” some of which may have included iron plating for ironclads.
