Billy Possum And Taft Postcards

Here’s the postcard that Lew Powell mentioned in a recent comment, along with another from the collection that shows Republican President William Howard Taft on that same May 20, 1909 visit. Taft was in Charlotte to celebrate the Mecklenburg Declaration of Independence.

  1. I am authoring a book re: the direct descendants of Lt. Gen. Thomas J. “Stonewall” Jackson. I am seeking permission to publish a scanned copy of the 1909 photograph of President Taft sitting with Mrs. Stonewall Jackson. If this is possible, please let me know how I should credit the image in the book.

Thank you in advance for your assistance.

  3. Thank you Linda. Apologizes for the late response. I will credit the image as requested. Hopefully the book will be published soon and I would be honored to provide the Library with a copy.
