Members of the UNC community interested in building or sponsoring a Library House for Habitat for Humanity of Orange County are invited to a project kickoff meeting Sept. 23, 2010. The one-hour meeting will start at 12:30 p.m. in the Pleasants Family Assembly Room in Wilson Library on the UNC campus.
The effort is part of the UNC Class of 2011 Build a Block project for Habitat. Library staff and student workers; faculty, staff, students, and alumni from the School of Information and Library Science (SILS); and library friends from campus and the community will contribute to the construction of the Library House by raising $35,000 and providing 2,000 hours of labor during the 2010-11 academic year.
Anyone who wishes to participate in the Library House effort is welcome to attend the meeting.
The UNC Build a Block project is a student-led initiative to build ten Habitat for Humanity houses for UNC and UNC Hospital employee families in the ten months of the 2010-2011 academic school year. The houses will be part of the Phoenix Place subdivision in Chapel Hill.
