UNC Student’s Archives Story Goes to National Contest

Vote for Katy’s entry

Ph.D. student Katy Simpson Smith’s story of an archival mystery discovered at UNC has advanced to the Society of American Archivist’s national “I Found It In the Archives” contest.

In April, the Library announced that Smith was the winner of the local “I Found It” contest, sponsored by the Wilson Special Collections Library. In an essay, she toldĀ  her story of discovery in the archives and how her family was able to bond over a cryptography competition based on an eighteenth-century diary.

Her essay is one of six submissions from around the country to become part of the Society of American Archivist’s (SAA) national contest.

Readers can vote for their favorite story at the SAA website through July 1. Go, Katy!
