Update, May 28, 2012: The sprinkler installation project is nearly complete. All Wilson Library special collections materials are now accessible. Read more.
The project to install sprinklers in the stacks of the Wilson Special Collections Library will result in the following closures affecting Rare Book Collection and North Carolina Collection materials:
- Rare Book Collection materials will be unavailable from January through April, 2012.
- Some North Carolina Collection materials will become unavailable beginning in mid-February. A significant portion of the North Carolina Collection will then become unavailable from March through the end of June, 2012.
Users who will need access to these materials during periods of closure should contact Wilson Library immediately: firstname.lastname@example.org, (919) 962-3765, or via the Library’s online request form. Staff will make every effort to set needed materials aside.
Nearly all General Manuscripts, Southern Historical Collection, and Southern Folklife Collection materials remain entirely inaccessible, as previously announced.
Most University Archives materials will return to accessibility by mid-January, 2012.
As additional closure information becomes available, it will be posted to the sprinkler project information page. We apologize for the inconvenience.
