Beginning in March, contractors will completely replace the elevators’ thirty-year-old motors and mechanical systems. The project will also refurbish the interior of the cars.
Most work will take place in the elevator mechanical room on the roof of Davis Library. Patrons may hear some noise, especially on upper levels. Most importantly, two or three of the elevators will be out of service at any time as gears and cables are replaced.
Given the elevators’ unreliable status, we hope you’ll understand the need for this disruption. Work should be completed this summer.
Thank you for your patience!
