University Libraries Celebrates the Research Hub Grand Opening

Nearly 200 members of the UNC community came together to celebrate the opening of the Research Hub in Davis Library on Oct. 23. University Librarian Sarah Michalak and Provost Jim Dean made remarks, along with Tom Carsey, director of the Odum Institute, and Jill Sexton, head of Digital Research Services in the University Library.

An open house gave attendees a chance to “go to their happy place” on the Liquid Galaxy Google Earth Display, make a light-up badge with equipment from the Makerspace in Kenan Science Library, and learn about the full range of Research Hub services.

The Research Hub makes the entire research lifecycle at UNC more connected, collaborative, and technology-enabled. High-end equipment and software, specialized librarians and technologists, and the resources of campus partners can help you to harness the power of new technologies to propel your research in new directions.

Thank you to all for making this such a celebratory opening!
