1,665 Books for Pediatric Cancer Patients … Thanks to You!

Since November 3, books have filled the bins during the Library’s sixth book drive for the Book Fairy, an organization that donates books to the Pediatric Oncology Clinic at UNC Hospitals.

This week, volunteers from the University Libraries Diversity Programming and Education Committee wrapped up the 2014 drive with a delivery of 1,665 books, each one ready to bring cheer and comfort to a young patient. In all, the Library’s book drives have supplied more than 14,000 books for the Book Fairy, a.k.a. Kathy Humphries.

“Because the UNC book drives have been so successful, they collect enough books for the whole year,” Humphries wrote on her blog.

Thank you to all of you, our wonderful UNC community, for helping the Book Fairy make it possible for these children to escape through books!
