New Science Library Annex Hours

This summer, the Science Library Annex on South Rd. (back of Wilson Library) will institute new hours. Through June 30, the Annex will be open Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Beginning July 1 and continuing through the academic year, hours will be Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

These changes reflect use patterns that we have tracked at the Annex over five years. During this time, in-person transactions, gate counts, and circulation have steadily declined. We are adjusting operating hours accordingly.

Staff from the Annex will continue to provide service and share their expertise in new locations around the UNC Library. And, of course, the excellent staff of the Kenan Science Library are available to assist you.

Options to access Annex materials

We remain committed to providing timely access to any materials you may need. In addition to visiting the Science Annex during regular service hours, please keep in mind:

  • Carolina BLU allows you to request books and journals from the Annex or any campus location. We typically scan journal articles and deliver them to you via email within one to three business days. Book requests placed Monday through Friday are generally ready for pick-up at Davis Library within 24 hours, or we can deliver them to your departmental campus mailbox (Academic Affairs faculty) or another campus library within one to three business days.
  • The New Books feature within the library catalog easily allows you to discover books that are new to the UNC Libraries collections.
  • If you need special access to the Annex or to materials held there, we will work with you to find a suitable solution. Please contact Davis Library if you require special access at 919-962-1053 or daviscirc@listserv.unc.edu

Updated May 24, 2016 to reflect correct time frame for Carolina BLU deliveries.
Updated May 25, 2016 to indicate that campus mailbox delivery is a service for Academic Affairs faculty.
