Appointments: Program Coordinator and Digital Projects Librarian for the North Carolina Digital Heritage Center

The University Library is pleased to announce two appointments to the North Carolina Digital Heritage Center (“Digital NC”) at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, effective July 1.

Lisa Gregory, Program Coordinator for the North Carolina Digital Heritage Center

Lisa Gregory is the new Program Coordinator for the North Carolina Digital Heritage Center.

As Program Coordinator, Lisa will help define and promote the services offered by the Center and set priorities for current and future projects. She will communicate regularly with cultural heritage professionals across North Carolina about digital library projects, prepare budgets and monitor expenditures, prepare grant applications and reports, and publicize and promote the plans and accomplishments of the Center.

Prior to this appointment, Lisa worked as the Interim Program Coordinator as well as the Digital Projects Librarian for the North Carolina Digital Heritage Center. She was previously the Digital Collections Manager and the Digital Projects Liaison for the Digital Information Management Program at the State Library of North Carolina.

Lisa holds an M.S.L.S. in library science from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, an M.A. in English from the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque, and a B.A. in English literature from Samford University in Birmingham, Alabama.

Kristen Merryman

Kristen Merryman, Digital Projects Librarian for the North Carolina Digital Heritage Center

Kristen Merryman has been appointed Digital Projects Librarian for the North Carolina Digital Heritage Center.

In this position, Kristen will work with staff in institutions and organizations throughout the state to develop and implement new digitization projects. She will oversee and closely monitor all aspects of digital project work, including digitization of original materials, description of materials according to accepted standards, and the online publication of digital objects using digital collection management tools.

Most recently, Kristen worked as Librarian for the North Carolina Collection at the Durham County Library, where she was previously Senior Library Assistant. She has also held digital projects roles at the UNC Libraries and the NCSU Libraries.

Kristen holds an M.S.L.S. from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, an M.A. in public history from North Carolina State University, and a B.A. in history and political science from UNC Greensboro.
