The University Library is pleased to announce three recent appointments, effective August 1.
John Blythe is now Assistant Curator and Collection Development Librarian for the North Carolina Collection (NCC), based in the Louis Round Wilson Special Collections Library.
John will manage the robust acquisitions program that serves the North Carolina Collection’s mission as the place of record for printed and electronic North Caroliniana. He will work closely with the NCC’s curator, photographic archivist, and keeper of the North Carolina Collection Gallery on the acquisition of photographs and artifacts.
John will serve as liaison to the Wilson Library Technical Services staff, the Library’s conservation department, and the state documents depository system. He will also work with potential donors to the North Carolina Collection.
Prior to this appointment, John held the position of special projects and outreach coordinator for the NCC. He previously worked as the project librarian for North Carolina Maps in the NCC and as an audio technician for the Southern Folklife Collection, also in the Wilson Special Collections Library.
John holds an M.S. in information science and a B.A. in American studies from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Lorin Bruckner has joined the staff as Data Visualization Services Librarian in the Davis Library Research Hub.
In this role, Lorin will advance the Library’s data visualization and analysis services. She will identify, evaluate, and recommend digital research tools; coordinate with campus units that support digital research; and design and deliver workshops and training on data visualization tools and methods.
Lorin previously was the practicum assistant to the data specialist for the Office for the Vice Chancellor of Institutional Advancement at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. She also served as communications coordinator for Applied Technologies for Learning in the Arts and Sciences at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and as creative director at <TAG> Digital Design and Advertising.
Lorin received an M.S. in information science with a double specialization in socio-technical data analytics and data curation from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and she holds a B.F.A. in visual arts from Long Island University, C.W. Post Campus in Brookville, New York.

Dwain Teague is the new Director of Library Development.
In this position, Dwain will be the Library’s chief fundraiser. He will establish strategic direction and tactical implementation of activities that support all fundraising efforts of the University Library, including annual, capital, and planned gift programs.
Dwain will manage the activities of the Friends of the Library board and provide leadership to the Library’s development staff. He will also guide the Library’s participation in the University’s upcoming major capital campaign.
As a member of the Library’s senior administration reporting to the University librarian, Dwain will additionally collaborate on overall strategic planning and management of the University Library.
Prior to this appointment, Dwain worked as the interim director of Library Development and as associate director for Library Development, both at the UNC Library. He previously served as director of major gifts for the University Libraries at East Carolina University and as director of major gifts for the North Carolina State University Libraries/North Carolina State University Foundation.
Dwain holds an M.A. in English with a concentration in technical and professional communication and a B.S. in communication, both from East Carolina University in Greenville, North Carolina.
