Members of UNC Student Organizations: Learn How To Preserve Your Own History April 6

Students are invited to join UNC archivists on April 6 for a special viewing of the exhibit “From Di-Phis to Loreleis: A History of Student Organizations at UNC” and to get tips on how student groups can preserve their own history.

The event will run from 2 to 4 p.m. in the North Carolina Collection Gallery of Wilson Library. Students may drop in at any time. Light refreshments will be served. Continue reading

Dialectic and Philanthropic Societies To Be Topic of Lecture April 7

The history and lore of the two oldest student organizations at UNC-Chapel Hill will be the topic of a lecture by UNC alumnus Kevin Cherry on April 7, in the Wilson Special Collections Library. “And They Talked—Always They Talked: 215 Years of the Dialectic and Philanthropic Societies” will be the 2011 Gladys Hall Coates University History Lecture.

The program will begin at 5:45 p.m. in the Pleasants Family Assembly Room. A reception, a viewing of the exhibit “From Di-Phis to Loreleis: A History of Student Organizations at UNC,” and an a cappella performance by the all-female group The Loreleis will precede the talk at 5 p.m. in the North Carolina Collection Gallery.
