New Staff: Open Access Librarian

Jennifer Solomon joined UNC as the Open Access Librarian. She leads the outreach and promotion strategy for the CDR, in order to increase awareness of the UNC Open Access Policy, assist users with compliance, and support other Open Access initiatives across campus. In addition, Jennifer conducts outreach, develops education, and coordinates events related to open access and scholarly communications more broadly, with an emphasis on copyright and policy.
Prior to this appointment, Jennifer was the Global Open Knowledgebase editor and technical services librarian at the library of North Carolina State University in Raleigh. She has also served as data science program manager at the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS) in Durham, North Carolina. She holds an M.S.L.S. from UNC’s School of Information and Library Science, an M.F.A. in creative writing from Indiana University in Bloomington, and a B.A. in women’s studies and creative writing from UNC.
