Item description: Newton Wallace, Company I, 27th Massachusetts Infantry, comments on his company’s movements while in eastern North Carolina, near New Bern. The march was a part of the Union Army’s expedition from New Bern to Trenton and Pollocksville. See the entry for 21 July 1862 for a map of his route.

25th had orders to be ready to march this afternoon with 3 days rations line was formed at 3 pm  oclock & we in company with 25th artilery PM pieces of aedo of cavalry Master.

out on the trent road marched  25 miles & then camped in a corn field .
