This blog is about scholarly communications issues, particularly as they relate to the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill.  It includes news, commentary, reviews, and interviews.

I am Anne Gilliland, the Scholarly Communications Officer at the UNC Libraries. I got my Master’s degree in library science in the early 1980s and worked in academic libraries and for a library consortium for several decades.  In mid-life, I went to law school while working full time.  I got my JD and was admitted to the Ohio bar in 2008.  (I’m now on inactive status.)  I was the head of the Health Sciences Copyright Management Office at Ohio State University for four years before coming to UNC in 2012.

My duties at UNC include guidance, policy development, advocacy, consultations and presentations on copyright, fair use, authors’ rights, privacy, open access, and other information policy issues important to the academy.

I am available to all UNC students, faculty, and staff.  Contact me to schedule a time to talk.  Or visit this page to learn more about my background and research interests.
