View from N.Y.: ‘Little Chapel Hill College’?

“Instead of an Ivy League university, [Robert Moses’ grandson Christopher Collins] wanted to go to little Chapel Hill College in North Carolina; [his mother] Jane was appalled, but Moses told her, ‘Oh, let the boy go where he wants.'”

  1. Lew,
Nearly 40 years after reading it I remember that phrase, and thought of it just now (April 2012) when reading a review of Caro’s latest volume of LBJ bio. Google sent me to this page, and I’m glad to see I’m not the only one who noticed it. Wonder what he got wrong about Lyndon?

  2. If he had had more space, I’m sure Saul Steinberg would’ve included little Chapel Hill College in his “View of the World from 9th Avenue”….
