Having a hard time deciding who to vote for for Governor? If the various campaign ads and claims have you confused, here’s a much less contentious way of looking at the candidates.
Both Walter Dalton and Pat McCrory show up in the North Carolina College and University Yearbooks collection available on DigitalNC.org. Dalton was a 1971 graduate of UNC-Chapel Hill, while McCrory graduated from Catawba College in 1978.
The Dalton photo is from the 1971 Yackety Yack, the McCrory from the 1975 edition of the Sayakini.
I thought McCrory was Steve Jobs at first glance.
Vote Walter Dalton
Vote Pat McCrory
Drill Baby Drill…Vote fro Pat!
Please don’t post the 9th District candidates yearbook pictures…

Funny – you would think McCrory was the liberal based on this photos… I guess he grew up!
This post is not intended to be published. John Blythe stick it where the sun doesn’t shine. That’s where your culture and history is.
Mr. Blythe: Then what on earth does your yearbook photos have to do with the election or how we should be influenced to vote? agenda much?
Wow, I’m voting for Pat, he was really cute!
Wow, now I must vote for Pat, he was really cute!
Dalton looks like he’s trying to squeeze the chipmunk back out. Oh to be in college again…
Pat McCrory graduated from Catawba in 1978. I know because I graduated from there the same year. The point is: we are comparing a photo of Dalton’s senior year picture vs. McCrory’s sophmore picture. Seems a bit apples vs. oranges since a person’s senior photo will normally be more polished and professional looking. Was this intentional?
Here is the link to the 1978 yearbook (page 206) that shows Pat McCrory’s senior picture (clean-cut with coat and tie).

This is the apples to apples comparison that should have been done. The bias of the press is really pathetic.
Excellent point! Here are the freshman and senior photos for both:

Both men, perhaps with future political careers in mind, seem to have been more conservative in their clothing and hairstyle choices than many of their classmates. The Yackety Yacks from the late 1960s depict a particularly wild campus.
