Banned Books Reading in the Pit Sept. 30

Update, Sept. 30: Moved to rain location inside Bull’s Head Bookshop

A banned books reading in the Pit will be part of UNC’s celebration of First Amendment Day on Sept. 30. Join Chancellor Holden Thorp, University Librarian Sarah Michalak, campus leaders, and others as they read from books that have been targets of attempted bannings.

The reading will begin at 12:30 p.m. The Bull’s Head Bookshop will display books that customers have requested be removed from the store’s shelves.

First Amendment Day coincides with Banned Books Week, an annual national event celebrating the freedom to read.

The banned books reading is organized cooperatively by the Bull’s Head Bookshop and the University Library.
