The Poet and the Poem

Grace Cavalieri, playwright and poet, compares the state of poetry in America to a third world country, both of which are economically impoverished, lacking economic development, and are generally underappreciated. Yet, we live in a world of people writing poetry for self-discovery. She reads and discusses her poem “Going South.”

At the time of this interview, Cavalieri was moderator of “The Poet and the Poem,” a syndicated radio program that originates at the Library of Congress.

This edition of Soundings was conducted by Wayne J. Pond.
