The Legend of King Arthur

Did King Arthur really live? Who was he, and how much historical truth is there to the myths, legends, chronicles, and poems that have grown up around his name? Donald Kennedy and George Russell discuss the figure of King Arthur in legend, literature, and history.

At the time of this interview, Kennedy, a specialist in Arthurian literature, was professor of English at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Russell, a Fellow at the National Humanities Center (1982-1983), was professor of English at the University of Melbourne.

This edition of Soundings was conducted by Wayne J. Pond.
