Elizabeth Spencer talks about her collection of five novella-length stories titledĀ Jack of Diamonds (Viking Penguin, 1988).

In the second segment [13:10], Mary Ann Wimsatt discusses her book The Major Fiction of William Gilmore Simms: Cultural Traditions and Literary Forms (Louisiana State University Press, 1989).

At the time of this interview, Spencer was professor of creative writing at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Wimsatt was professor of English at Southwest Texas State University.
