Two Poets

In conversation, American poets Rita Dove and Adrienne Rich discuss their work and ideas on aesthetics, empowerment, intimacy, motherhood, and the poetic responsibility. Rich reads “Poetry: III” from Your Native Land, Your Life: Poems and Dove reads “The Breathing, the Endless News” from Grace Notes.

At the time of this interview, Rita Dove was a Fellow at the National Humanities Center (1988-89). Adrienne Rich was a visitor at the Center.
