After the Wedgwood

Robert Connor discusses his 1989 presidential address to the American Philological Association, entitled “After Smashing the Wedgwood.” In the second segment, John D’Arms and Dennis O’Connor discuss American scholarship in the global marketplace.

At the time of this interview, Robert Connor was Director of the National Humanities Center. John D’Arms was dean of the Horace H. Rackham School of Graduate Studies at the University of Michigan and a trustee of the NHC. Dennis O’Connor was Provost at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
