Medicine and Social Ethics, Part 1 of 2

Author Michael Waldholz and genetic researcher Allen Roses discuss medical ethics and the mapping of the human genome. The writer and scientist talk about the rapid development of genetic research in the late twentieth century, its effect on medical research, and how journalists can best convey this breakthrough to the public.

At the time of the interview, Michael Waldholz was a staff reporter for the Wall Street Journal, and had recently published Genome, a book detailing genetic research in the late twentieth century. Allen Roses was a professor at the Duke University Medical Center with interest in neurology and Alzheimer’s disease. This episode of Soundings was conducted by Wayne J. Pond.
