Language and National Identity

Michael Holquist describes the rise of Communism and nationalism in eastern Europe, stating that one of the most powerful weapons in the armory of nationalism is the concept of a national language. At the time of this interview, Holquist was professor of comparative literature at Yale University. This edition of Soundings was conducted by Wayne J. Pond.
