Scholars of religion William McKane and Shemaryahu Talmon discuss the Bible as literature and as scripture.

At the time of this interview, McKane, a Fellow at the National Humanities Center (1987-88), was professor of religion at the University of St. Andrews.

Talmon, also a Fellow at the Center (1987-88), was professor of religion at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem.
