CDR Feature Spotlight: Embargoes

Frequently, we get requests to restrict access to a work temporarily, so that the author can pursue publication of the work elsewhere or to comply with an existing publisher policy. This can be done through an embargo! When you set an embargo on your work, you can specify the length of time to restrict access to your work. Once the embargo period expires, the CDR will automatically change the visibility settings and make the work available to the public.

It is important to note that embargoes may not be available for student papers. The Graduate School, Honors Carolina and individual masters paper departments set the access policies for student work and may restrict the allowed length of an embargo period or disallow them. Students may need to go through a separate process with their department, Honors Carolina or the Graduate School to place an embargo on their work.
