Determined Fictions

Stephen Crane, Frank Norris, and Theodore Dreiser are prominent writers of American fiction known as naturalists. Lee Mitchell discusses these writers as they appear in his book Determined Fictions: American Literary Naturalism.

At the time of this interview, Mitchell, a Fellow at the National Humanities Center (1986-87), was professor of English at Princeton University.
