Charles Carlton, the author of Royal Childhoods, discusses the childhoods of several English kings and queens from William the Conqueror to Elizabeth II.

In the second segment [15:00], Vincent Comerford discusses his research project at the National Humanities Center entitled “Confessional Conflict in the Modern State: Ireland and the Netherlands, 1780-1980.”

At the time of these interviews, Carlton, a Fellow at the National Humanities Center (1985-86, 1994-95), was professor of history at North Carolina State University.

Comerford, a Fellow at the Center (1987-88), was professor of history at Maynooth College, Ireland.
