I learned a new word on Monday: “absquatulated.”
I’m no scholar of journalism, but I’m assuming that the cost of this notice was not calculated by the number of characters used.

Terrific word! I found four uses of it in the NC Newspapers collection on DigitalNC.org. My favorite was in a 1858 paper in reference to a politician who had “absquatulated some years ago with Government money.”
Found another great one, from 1841: “These are the days of Bank absquatulators and swindlers.”
